Cycle Of The Year Hey, I’m your brother Can’t you see I’m so alone It’s a new day Sun is shinning Fields are dry Gone the frosty nights behind you. Babe, your face is clear But cold to touch and full of fear Why don’t you hold me near you? But your eyes are still hiding From the sunlight Wait, look to the future The Earth is turning Your breath is slow The winter waits for you The spring will follow soon The summers end will call The summer to the fall The winter comes again The spring will bring the rain The summers warmth and light The autumn’s darkened nights Winters stars shine bright .

When The Fog Comes In When the fog comes in I’ll be blowin on my whistle One step, two step, keep a careful listen Dodgin’ de bullets and hidin’ in duh porridge I’m not the man that they seem to think I am Away – aye – ay – aye – oh! When the fog comes in When the fog comes in I’ll be bangin’ on my drum Out with the old brain, in with the new Voices in my head tell me what to do But it’s my voice Lord... message coming through Away – aye – ay – aye – oh! When the fog comes in When the fog comes in I’ll be stampin’ ‘n’ a-clappin’ Washed my hands of the whole damn affair Wasn’t always easy not to have a care Feelin’ kind-a-twitchy, got my finger on the trigger Away – aye – ay – aye – oh! When the fog comes in Boom bang bang, boom bang bang, boom bang bang, boom It’s over Boom bang-a-bang, boom bang-a-bang, boom bang-a-bang, boom It’s over... It’s over... Away – aye – ay – aye – oh! When the fog comes in When the fog comes in I’ll be ringing on my bell I’m seeing things now that I know are not there White lights and shadows play tricks on my noggin Insect and spider, He get everyWHERE! Away – aye – ay – aye – oh! When the fog comes in When the fog comes in, the fog comes in .

Part Of The Machine I’ve lost my way I don’t know what I’m doing here Just caught in a breeze Looking for what’s over there It remains out of sight Undercover till night There’s no shade from the Sun Have no choice but to run There’s no sound but the noise Of an echoing voice It’s the voice of a man Close your eyes but you can’t ’Cos your part of the machine I’m lost in a breeze And I’m feeling what I think is fear And it’s all been a trap And it’s asking too much to survive You better watch what you say But you’ve lost anyway With these crimes of the air You don’t have a prayer And the shake of the dice Is my only advice You’re breathing your last Take one breathless gasp And you’re part of the machine Yes, you’re part of the machine .

Frequency 09:23
Frequency I can see you hiding in the corner of the room Your blood red mouth sings a bright and merry tune A short, flat yellow hat with orange plastic hair Skulking in the shadows, you pretend that you’re not there The mad man in the mountains has a tear in his eye Flowers, cows, sheep and houses in the evening sky Is he happy? Is he sad? Is he sane or is he mad? The dawn brings rebirth and the youth he never had Desert streams flow forever to the seven seas The watcher in the water, the mist in the trees Man of mirrors stranded in the distance of a dream Reflection in the duck pond is not what it would seem When you tune into my frequency And listen to all I have to say And when I tell you there’s no hope for you Do you feel a little dismayed? Well I guess that’s only natural Can’t bring myself to blame you You never knew my feelings But Jesus... Deep down I felt that way myself You’ll never know .

Only Cowboys Know How To Say Goodbye I’ve been searching high and low across this desert land For a woman whose got a face that fits and an appetite to match Well, every fair maiden that has ever crossed my path Has woken broken hearted with a rose on her pillow Only cowboys know how to say goodbye When I was just a little boy my Daddy said to me: “Treat ’em mean and keep ’em keen And you can’t go far wrong Now here’s a gun and a bottle of rum Go out and have yourself some fun It’s not the way you meet ’em, boy It’s the way you choose to leave ’em” Only cowboys know how to say goodbye A horse, a gun, an Indian friend and a belly full of beer Is all a man should ever need in this crazy mixed-up world Now I can tell you many tales about the broken hearted But if they chose the cowboys path then they would be so happy Only cowboys know how to say goodbye Goodbye cowboy Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye .

about

We decided to embark on the recording project that later became “ Quantity Over Time” around November 2005. Little did we know then exactly how long it was going to take to complete. We didn’t finish the recordings till October 2008, and by the time we’d mixed, mastered and got it replicated we were heading towards late 2009.
But we were in no hurry.

The initial idea was to get some decent equipment, lock ourselves away from time to time, and record ourselves to the best of our abilities, a collection of 'Where' music.

We'd never really had the chance to record anything properly before, or at least how we would have liked to. So this was a great opportunity for us to finally get something down that we could maybe be proud of for once.

The music here ranges from around 1988 (Part Of The Machine) to 2000 (Robotic Infection).

All the songs featured were at some point mainstays of the live set, with the exception of “The Touch”, which was only played live once and appears here, reworked as an instrumental.

The only other track to be substantially modified is “Frequency” which has undergone some careful editing to bring it’s original rather cumbersome running time of 20 minutes or so, down to a more concise and manageable length (though maybe the listener should be the judge of whether we were at all successful in this).

It was a lot of fun putting it all together, and to be honest we didn’t really know what we were doing.
We just trusted our ears.

We hope you enjoy these recordings as much as we enjoyed making them.

For more info about these tracks and their lyrics, see the individual track pages.
