about
Dan tries to put us to sleep:
“This came about as a result of playing my first ‘realistic’ guitar sound on a keyboard.
I had also heard some harpsichord pieces played by a musician who had researched how fast people were playing baroque music. He had worked out that it was being played so fast on modern instruments that the notes would not have even sounded at that speed on a period instrument.
From this I wrote a steadier instrumental with guitar at the front to use Dave's great acoustic guitar abilities with a harpsichord providing the ‘continuo'. Tim pulls out all the stops on a second acoustic guitar with the bass line. There are some flowing sections but it's never so fast that the touch and sound of the note is lost. The main recording session was live, with no click, no metronome; just the three of us playing our instruments and knowing from a look, a slight breath or movement that it was time to play the next section.
Nice!”
